My Stinky Day

I had a stinky day today.  It might be assumed that it was because today was our first day back from winter break.  Nope.  When I say stinky, I mean STINKY!

I walked into my classroom this morning excited to be implementing Daily Five for the first time.  I came in, put my stuff down, and caught a whiff of....something.  I sniffed around and determined that, yes, I was in fact, smelling......a dead mouse.

At the beginning of the day, I couldn't really tell where the smell was coming from.  I sprayed with room spray, but then I just smelled cinnamon flavored dead mouse.  Trust me, this will NOT become a new Yankee Candle scent!

As the day wore on, I figured it out.  It was in the HEATER!  While my kids were in their encore class, I ran walked quickly down to the office to let them know.  Thankfully a couple of wonderful, kind, brave maintenance men arrived and took apart my heater.  And there it was.  Well, I didn't actually SEE it.  I am a wimp and I was hiding in another classroom.  They removed it and I am now free of the dead mouse, but not yet free of the stink!

If today was your first day back, I hope that it smelled better then mine!

Happy Monday!

  8. @ Barbara: Okay...I did feel a little bad for it...especially when I remembered that at this time last year, our One School, One Book reading project was "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh!"
