A Day in My Shoes

I have seen a lot of bloggy friends participating in A Day in My Shoes Linky Party hosted by Katie over at The Adventures of a Sixth Grade Teacher.

I'm going to choose Monday, since that is tomorrow, and unlike EVERYONE else, we will be in school tomorrow!

5:00     My alarm goes off, drag myself out of bed, and head blindly to the shower.

5:30 - 6:00  Breakfast, blog stalk, Bible in no particular order.

6:00 - 7:00     Dress, do the hair thing, say good-bye to my husband, and begin coaxing my boys out of bed.

7:00 - 7:30     Hope that I've made it to the car with everybody and everything.  Five minutes into the drive, I wave to my school as I go cruising past.  Meet Mother-in-Law to get my littlest.

7:30 - 7:50     Drive BACK to school with oldest.

8:10 - 8:30     Kiddos begin arriving.  Morning Activities, AR, etc.

8:30 - 9:15     AR continues, reading conferences, morning work

9:15 - 10:40     Daily Five, groups

10:40 - 11:10     Recess...with the kids.

11:15 - 11:45     Lunch - NOT duty free.  Spills, tattles and hopefully a little lunch is eaten.

11:45 - 12:00     Number Talks, Calendar

12:00 - 12:20     First Grade Meeting:  Phonics songs, etc.

12:20 - 1:20     Math

1:20 - 2:00     Specials (Art)

2:00 - 2:35     Science or Social Studies

2:35 - 2:50    Pack-up, chapter book read aloud

2:50 - 4:30     Teacher stuff, getting ready for the next day, etc.

4:30 - 5:30     Commute to MIL's house to get littlest and drive back home

5:30 - 9:30    Homework (mine and oldest), dinner, play, chores, baths, lunches, clothes ready, stories, greet husband, hugs, laundry..........

9:30 - 10:00     Read for ME!

10:00     In bed so I can be ready to start the new day.

Head on over to Adventures of a Sixth Grade Teacher and link up.  I can't wait to read about your day!

Happy Sunday!

Love to Joplin

Let's go back in time, shall we?

Last April, there was a tornado that went through our county, destroying an area called Glade Spring, Virginia and damaging many homes and businesses in Abingdon, Virginia.  It was super scary and the landscape of the areas damaged has been forever altered.

Flash forward a bit to Joplin, Missouri.  An F5 tornado swept through their city causing major, extensive damage.

Let's come back to the present.  Having seen the damage to Glade Spring, I know that it is just a small glimpse of what the residents of Joplin have dealt with on a daily basis since May 22.

DeeDee over at Mrs. Wills Kindergarten is having a linky party to show Joplin some love!

We are sending TPT units or gift certificates to help raise the morale of teachers and students alike.  I sent The Snowy Days of January Language Arts and Math Centers pack.

Head on over and join this linky party to aid our fellow teachers!

Happy Saturday!

11 in 11

I LOVE a good linky party!  When I saw Kristen (A Teeny Tiny Teacher) and Hadar (Miss Kindergarten) were hosting, I knew I had to join in.

11.  Favorite movie you watched
The Help.  Loved the book and loved the movie!

10.  Favorite TV series
I really like any of the Real Housewives.  Also, and I know this is going to sound strange, but....I really like Deadliest Catch!  I don't know why, I just do.  Please don't judge!

9.  Favorite restaurant
Abuelo's.  They have a pasta and shrimp dish that is FABULOUS!

8.  Favorite new thing you tried
It would have to be blogging.  I was so afraid in the beginning that there wouldn't be anyone who cared what I had to say.  But it has been the total opposite.  Thank you everyone in bloggy world for being so nice and inviting!

7.  Favorite gift you received
My husband got me a Nook Color for Christmas and I LOVE it.  I was always one of those people who said, "But I want to be able to HOLD my book."  Boy was I stupid misinformed.

6.  Favorite thing you pinned
I found this really cool fall porch decoration:
I have loved this for quite awhile! I made my own tonight!

I made my own, and while they didn't turn out quite as nice as these, I still really liked them.

5.  Favorite blog post
It would probably have to be Glitter Confession, even though I still cringe when I think about it!

4.  Favorite accomplishment
Well, this isn't really MY accomplishment, it belongs to my oldest.  He is in Kindergarten, and one day when I was typing away on this blog, he was standing over my shoulder and would point to words and say, "Mommy that says...."  I can remember about falling out of my chair.  I knew that he could read about 50 of his sight words in isolation, but the fact that he picked them up in my writing was a very exciting, proud moment for me as a mommy.

3.  Favorite picture
On Christmas day, we took a picture with my granddaddy (who is 92) and all of the great-grandchildren, or as many of them that would sit still long enough!

That would be me trying to keep my youngest in his chair until after the pictures had been snapped....let's just say that didn't work out to well!

2.  Favorite memory
Getting our boys their new puppy, Tucker.  Oh the screams of excitement!  And the boys were excited, too!

1.  Goal for 2012
I recently bought and read the Daily Five and Cafe from The Sisters.  My goal is to try to implement them into our language arts time.  If you have any advice, please share!

Happy Wednesday!

Holiday Treats

Tammy over at Klinger Cafe is having a sweet linky party.  Really, it is sweet...Holiday sweets!!

This recipe is one of my favorites.

Heath Bars

1  12oz package of chocolate chips
1  cup of brown sugar
2  sticks of butter
Saltine Crackers

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Line a 10 x 15 jellyroll pan with foil.  Place a single layer of Saltines in the pan.

Combine the butter and sugar.  Boil and stir for three minutes.  Pour over the cracker layer.  Bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

Immediately sprinkle and spread the chocolate chips over the crackers, butter, and sugar.    Place pan in the freezer to cool.

Once cooled, break into pieces.

I store mine in the fridge in an airtight container.

Enjoy!

Happy Wednesday!
