A Little of This, A Little of That

So, while most of you were reuniting with your pajamas, I was at school today.  Not that I am jealous, or anything.  Really.  I'm not.  Okay, a little.  PLUS I had bus duty.  This means that I had to be in my spot and ready at 7:25 for that first early bus.

As I have mentioned before, our school is doing a project where everyone is reading the same book, The Trumpet of the Swan.  I was reading aloud our chapter today, and came to the term of field glasses.  Pausing, I asked the children if they had a guess of what field glasses were.  One of my kiddos raised his hand and said, "They're like binoculars."  You could have knocked me over with a feather.  I was not expecting those words to come out of his mouth!

During history, we read about Martin Luther King, Jr.  I love the book Martin's Big Words.

Not only are the pictures incredible, buy I think that it tells his story well for little ones.

Lastly, I want to take a poll.  The linky party of walking a day in each other's shoes has caused me to do some serious thinking:  Do you have to eat lunch with your kids, or is it a duty free time?  I really want to know!  I have this sinking feeling that I am one of the few who have to eat lunch with my kids.  Granted, it is at a different table, but still in the loud cafeteria all the same.

Happy Monday!

  1. Our teachers get a duty-free thirty-minute lunch.

I used to have to do duty, but this year they gave me two car-rider duty days instead . . . phew!

Yep, that cafeteria is LOUD!! Sorry.
